Cradle mountain in winter
Original oil painting on canvas, framed, 50 x 70cm
By Damian Smith
Ready to hang
This painting is referenced from a photo I took at Cradle Mountain in July 2017 walking around the massive lake. There was snow capped trees and melting like rain through the trees, and the mountain had a glimmering presence on this particular day.
This series of landscapes are inspired by the rich natural surroundings I have been enjoying since moving to Tasmania. The beauty of these landscapes is also influencing the figurative work I am creating giving a greater sense of depth and story. I love how these scenes give a sense of life and energy to the landscape, and capture the many moods I observe in the land while I am on bush walks.
